Dekko Bird is an interior styling business, built up from a home styling and decor blog that was born in 2015. Please read on to discover some of the work that I do, both on the interior styling side and via the blog itself.

Interior Styling Projects
Here are some residential projects I have worked on to date.
‘Modern Vintage’ Kitchen/dining – Hillsborough
This client had recently completed a kitchen renovation, however approached me to help her finish the room off. I chose a statement wallpaper for the dining wall, the design of which ties in with the modern vintage vibe of the client’s home, which is a former rectory dating back to the 1950s. A dark blue was chosen for behind the kitchen units to add depth and a complementary white for the other walls in the room to keep it bright and airy, and to contrast the polished concrete floor.
Lounge & Family ‘Den’ Concept Board – East Belfast
My client had recently moved into a new home, but was struggling to make the downstairs layout work, as the front lounge and kitchen were separated by a middle room with no natural light. It had become a corridor between the kitchen and lounge, with no real purpose. I suggested transforming it into a cosy family ‘den’ for TV viewing and relaxing in the evening, with dark cocooning walls to set off my client’s funky art collection. The front lounge can be closed off with French doors and remains the more ‘grown up’ room. It has a more subtle decor scheme, but with pops of quirky pattern to help tie the two spaces together.
‘Classic Contemporary’ living/dining room – East Belfast
This client approached me to refresh her front living and dining area, which had become outdated and felt drab. Her home was a converted cottage, therefore she wanted to retain some of its old charm, but keep the overall look and feel modern. I put together a mood board based on a calming palette of soft greys and pinks, with a touch of gold to warm the scheme up.
‘Modern Country’ Living Room Concept Board – Lisburn
The client had inherited a very dated, 1980s house, which she envisaged transforming into a modern family home. She needed to work around her existing brown leather sofas, so using a beautiful painting full of autumnal colours as the starting point, I created a scheme with modern country accents and warm, earthy tones.
Bathroom Restyle Mood Board – Belfast
Sometimes, clients simply want to refresh a room within a tight budget. In particular, bathrooms can be expensive to refit, however it’s usually not too difficult to revamp them around existing fixtures and fittings. This client wanted to do just that, however we had to work around green mosaic tiles above the bath. I decided to pare it all down Scandi-style, adding a touch of botanicals to easily tie in the green.
‘Classic Modern’ Lounge Mood Board – Lisburn
This lounge was the last room in my client’s home to be updated. She wanted a little more colour in here, however I opted to keep within a softer palette to maintain the tonal flow with the rest of the house. The vibe she wished to achieve was traditional comfort with a modern edge. The soft furnishings add pops of pattern and depth to the overall scheme, whilst the pineapple lamp adds a little fun!
Paint Colour & Lighting Consultation – South Belfast
This project was primarily a paint colour consultation to refresh an outdated kitchen/living area and dark hallway. I also assisted with lighting choices for these rooms, too.

Feedback & Reviews of my work
Interior Styling projects
“I contacted Keira in the middle of my husband stripping wallpaper and wanting to know the new colour scheme… Help! Keira responded to my enquiry straight away and fitted me in promptly. She came to the house armed with colour samples and worked with me and created a colour board. Loved the colours and then moved on to accessorising the room. Keira came up with brilliant ideas from high street / online shops on a mood board. We then worked together online, sending me new ideas if I wasn’t sure about something.
An added bonus was that Keira encourages upcyling and where we employed this it worked really well and saved us money. I have already recommended Keira to others who like me have ideas but need some expert guidance . Thoroughly recommend.” R. O.
“I worked with Keira in Autumn 2017 after we had bought a 1980s house, which was all creams and mahogany. Keira provided colour and soft furnishings advice and designs, choosing complementary colour schemes based on our preferences and tying into the layout of our home and the direction of light. My husband and I have absolutely no clue when it comes to these things and I have no interest in spending hours looking in magazines or online. Keira made it so easy for us, coming to the house, discussing and taking pictures and then creating an online and actual mood board which we moved around the house. I showed it to everyone who visited the house and everyone loved it! The results have been even better, and just 5 months later we have finished our renovation and decoration and transformed the look and feel of the house. I couldn’t recommend Keira highly enough. I honestly wouldn’t have known where to start and now feel I’m the proud owner of a chic-looking house!” L. A.
Freelance writing and product styling/photography
Blogger campaign on Wayfair UK – “Keira styled and photographed a unique vignette for our #LittleMasterpieces campaign. She did a great job of showcasing our products and went above and beyond the brief to create a variety of different looks to choose from. We asked bloggers to come up with interesting and innovative ways to display children’s art and were so pleased with the direction that Keira ran in; she was a joy to work with and we’d happily recommend her to anyone.”
