Over the next couple of days I’m going to look at this year’s main Christmas decor trends for 2015. Without a doubt, one of the most fun things to buy at this time of year is a shiny new Christmas decoration for the tree – it just gives us that warm and fuzzy festive feeling! However, before you hit the shops to treat your tree to some new glitter hardware, remember this: the trick is to rethink what decorations you already have and the different ways you can blend them into a well-planned and considered decor scheme that works for you and reflects your home’s personality. Believe me, rather than throwing every decoration you have from Christmases Past and ending up with a bauble bomb site, a little forethought now will make your home look classy, elegant and pulled together this Christmas, whatever your style!
The first theme I am seeing everywhere on the High Street and beyond this year is the Winter Wonderland look. Think snowy forests of Narnia and you’re onto the right track here! This look is centred around a minimalistic palette of clean winter whites and creams accented by sparkling glints of gold, silver and glass. Layer up wool blankets and fur throws with plush cushions adorned with shiny sequins, silver beads and prints of arctic animals. Keep tree decor simple with baubles of clear glass and silver, white ceramic stars and glittering snowflakes, set off by bright white fairy lights. Warm up the ambience with plenty of candles flickering in smoked glass and metallic holders and you’ve pretty much nailed this look.
Love the idea of this but need a little more inspiration? Here are some lovely pieces from high street stores channeling this trend at the moment…
