Like it or not, the Autumn/Winter season is almost upon us! By September, homeware retailers will be full of the promise of cosy nights in by the fire curled up on your favourite armchair with the rain lashing against the windows. I have to admit, I absolutely love the onset of Autumn and everything associated with it, the latest offerings of cosy homewares not excluded…
I recently picked up a copy of the M&S Home catalogue for Autumn ’15 and it appears that as with their forthcoming AW15 clothing ranges, they are spot on trendwise with their homeware collections, too. Plenty of Danish influence which is pretty hot on the homeware scene (and set to stick around) and also lots of rich colour combinations (such as berry and teal), Boho luxe and Art Deco style.

There really is something for every decor taste and budget, so do check it out. Here are a few things I am loving in particular:
If you are drawn to clean Danish design and a simple, modern sense of living, you will love the Loft collection. Perfectly suited to the budget and space conscious, think Habitat meets Ikea in terms of its design and affordability, but with that solid sense of quality you associate with M&S Home products. I really like this coffee table from the Bradshaw collection, made from solid oak with a white, grey or plain oak top. It is ideally suited to smaller spaces, though it would sit well tucked beside an armchair or the side table in the same range could be used as a simple alternative to a bedside table in a guest room, perhaps.
Also from the Loft collection you will find some stunning lighting, such as this Tokyo large pendant light (bottom right) with copper-effect metal frame and the Halifax Bulb pendant light (bottom left) with its quirky pink or teal coloured cable. A trio of these would look amazing hanging in a dining area or one suspended on either side of a bed would be pretty stylish, too. (You can opt for a table lamp version, too, if you prefer). The Loft colour dipped earthenware vase in lime mix has a hint of Scandinavian retro cool in its form and at £12 is an affordable update to your decor scheme.
Finally from this particular collection I was drawn to the very affordable, brightly coloured Ditsy Geo bedlinen which would definitely cheer you up on those cold winter nights with its bold, pink / teal colourways and Scandi inspired geometric print.
Amongst the bed and bath collections, check out the Dahlia and Elena bedlinen sets if the Bohemian look is your thing – printed cushions, luxurious navy velvet bolster cushions and heavy florals in berry pinks, rich teal and cassis will certainly give a cosy, romantic ambience to your boudoir over the winter months, especially set against deep grey walls and tucked into solid brass bed frames. A blissful night’s sleep will ensue!
The Art Deco influence this A/W is very much a feature in homeware collections and M&S is no exception to this. Geometric pattern, metallics and mirrored furniture all figure heavily and will add a certain opulence and luxe to your home this A/W season. Look out for items from the Art Deco inspired Elliston and Carraway collections, such as the on trend Pineapple candle holder (not online at time of writing) and Ecuador fret ceiling lampshade in black/gold.
Also in vogue this coming season is an Indian/colonial vibe to interior decor, with dark woods, earthy rustic colours and hints of Eastern spice seen across cushions, bedlinen and upholstery. Find Chenille knits, Buddha heads and metal lanterns to add a warm Eastern vibe to living areas.
